Do I need a reservation?

You do not need a reservation. However, we strongly recommend a reservation for Fridays/Saturdays. Walk-in's are always welcome! We set aside bar seats and a few tables for guests who have not reserved ahead.

can i reserve the “special” table?

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate specific table requests. We are a small restaurant with limited space. All seatings are designated based on time of reservation and size of party.

How do i make a reservation?

We take all reservations through Opentable only.

Is there a dress code?

No.

do you have outdoor seating?

We do not, unfortunately. We have an underground enclosed patio seating area by our entrance that we refer to as the “Greenhouse.” Opentable refers to this area as “outdoor” — which causes some confusion.

What cuisine do you serve?

Coastal Mediterranean/Levantine. We were originally a Moroccan lounge when we opened in 2000, and we have retained some of our signature North African dishes from that time.

can i book a private party?

Yes — we offer a number of options for full bookings of the space or semi-private events based on the number of guests. Please contact us at shalelevents@gmail.com for more information.

Is it dark inside?

Yes — we keep the lights dimmed and the restaurant illuminated by candles.

Is it loud inside?

It is generally quiet. Certain tables are significantly quieter than others; however, we reserve the Greenhouse area to be the quietest area in the restaurant. On weekends, the restaurant is louder.

Do you play music? what kind?

Yes. We play an eclectic and evolving playlist of retro and contemporary Arabic, North African, Turkish, Greek, Italian, and Spanish musics.

Do you have live music?
